Welcome

Over the years I have written several "book" or "booklets" and many, many, many newsletter and bulletin articles. Because the book market seeks writings to meet specific needs at specific times, my material has never been accepted. I have a tendency to write what is on my mind and so I am left with self publishing. So, with the encouragement from my wife and others, I am beginning this blog in order to put my "ramblings" "out there"! I hope you enjoy!

Please note that while my intentions are to use good grammar, because of the way in which some of the material presented here is presented (orally) the grammar and syntax might not always be the best English. Also note that good theology is not always presented in the best English so there may be times when the proper grammar rules are purposely broken.

CD - The First Article - Job 38:1-11

Creation versus Evolution, or better and more properly stated, the theory of Creation versus the theory of Evolution, has been a debate that has been around for a number of years, over 150 years. Unfortunately, one theory is being taught as fact and this should not be so, because scientist cannot prove either. The difficulty in trying to prove either theory is that no one was around when either took place. The Lord’s words to Job ring so well, especially to any scientist, or anyone today who would profess that the theory of evolution is fact. The Lord’s question to Job is, “Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation? Tell me, if you understand? Who marked off its dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?” (Job 38:4-5) You can almost hear God’s sarcastic, even mocking tone, “Surely you know!” The Lord knows that Job does not know, He knows that we do not know, because we were not there. Certainly, the Lord knows, because He was there, because He created all things. Thus, if you want to know what happened at creation, you go to the Creator, you go to the Author, you go to the Lord and ask Him. He tells us how it happened in His Word.

For many, however, God’s Word is not enough, they want proof. The proof they seek is scientific evidence. The evidence they seem to have found are certain fossil findings. The problem is, there are no fossils that prove evolution. Scientist tend to hedge a little when it comes to the fossils they have found, but none are the “missing links” that prove the moving from one species to another. This should not surprise us because God Himself told us that when He created the world and set it in motion He made it so that each species (kind) gives birth only to its own species (kind).

And yet, some still are not convinced. Maybe it is a question of what is easiest to believe. Certainly the atheist has it the hardest, because to believe in absolutely nothing takes a lot more faith than to believe in something. The evolutionist must have the next most faith, because to believe that something could create itself out of nothing takes a lot of faith. Think about it. Is it easier to believe that a building accidentally put itself up, over millions of years, or that someone designed it and someone built it. The same is true for household appliances, cars and the like. Did all these things happen, by accident, over numerous years, to come together and be what they are today, or did someone design them and someone make them? The evolutionist would have you believe the former, which is very hard to believe.

We truly are blessed, because we have the Author (of life), the Creator of all things who tells us outright in His Word that He is the Creator and how He designed and created all things, out of nothing. The exiting thing is that as He tells us this in His Word, He has given this same Word to be a Word with power. God’s Word, the Bible is not just a book, like all other books. God’s Word, the Bible is a book with power, namely the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit works through the Bible to bring us to faith, to strengthen us in our faith, and to keep us in faith to eternal life. That is why God’s Word, the Bible is said to be a means of grace. It is a means, a way in which the Lord gives us His grace, His gifts of faith, forgiveness, life, salvation, etc. Thus, as we read the account of creation, the Lord gives us the faith to believe it.

Heavenly Father, even though I was not at the creation of the world, I know how it was accomplished, because You have told me so in Your Word. Forgive me when I doubt what Your Word says, or when I think that I am smarter than Your Word and think it could have happened any other way. Give me strength each day to bear witness to those around me of the faith that is in me, to the praise and glory of Your most precious name. For Jesus’ sake. Amen.
